What happens to your stake when you win a sports bet?
The short answer is yes. Whatever your bet is, whether it's a single selection or a 10-fold accumulator, if it is successful then you will receive a payout. The payout includes the winnings from your bet as well as your stake. For example, if you place £10 on a bet with 5/1 odds and it wins, the returns would be £50. You also receive your £10 stake back so the total payout would be £60.
However, if for example you have placed the same bet of 5/1 but the stake is with bonus funds or a free bet, then the bonus funds or free bet are not returned in the payout. You would only receive the £50 winnings. This may vary depending on your preferred bookmaker though so do check their terms and conditions when placing a bet with bonus or free bet funds.
